Assistant Director Opening
We are seeking an Assistant Director to join the management team in our Columbia, MO office. The successful candidate will assume supervision of all inspection staff and related field service activity while learning all aspects of the operation. This is an “executive in waiting” position that is structured to allow for a transition to the Executive Director position when that position opens in the near future.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate and supervise all field service activity, including field inspections, conditioning facility inspections and field/sample auditing
• Supervise a team of 10-15 seasonal inspectors to include recruitment, training and scheduling
• Develop education and promotional materials and/or programs as needed to increase awareness of MCIA programs and activities
• Represent MCIA on professional and industry related committees as needed
• Become familiar with all aspects of the MCIA operation, including sample processing, seed laboratory testing, tag/label/certificate issuance and proprietary software structure and operation
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in agronomy, seed production or related agricultural industries
• Knowledge of or experience with team leading, recruiting, training, scheduling and supervising
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact with colleagues, peers and clients in a professional manner
• Proven history of honesty, integrity and dependability working with staff, constituents and general public
• Experience with or working knowledge of modern business software (MCIA will provide training for in-house proprietary software)
